the deduction for federal income taxes paid in the
calculation of income taxes a person must pay the
State of Alabama.
- For those who itemize, currently, 100% of the
income taxes paid to the federal government may
be deducted from the amount taxpayers must pay
the State of Alabama, without regard to income.
- The food tax phase out plan introduces a fair way
to preserve the useful deduction for federal
incomes taxes paid and remove the sales tax on
groceries, without taking money away from the
state's education system.
